The Only Shade Of Skin

The only shade of human skin that’s ranked first is love,
But that’s too vague and negligent and lazy and shoved
When it stales as passive on the list of theories
And definitions for our insufficient reasoning with ease.
To illustrate; Fire! Fire! A terrible fire! Damnation!
Are you still reading this? It could be a conflagration!
Right, because it’s just a word. It holds no choking smoke,
No heat, it bears no fatal flames, so no action is evoked.
We are strange, and it’s not new. We say one thing,
But we’ve done what we mean; Cain knows this link.
‘I am’ saw it wasn’t fit and gave a mirror to Eve,
As an heirloom to preserve her progenies. It’s believed,
The mirror could see thoughts and often the ghoulish,
Then, it was up to free will to act or not to as you wish.
Now that you know of this, there’s no unlearning.
All else that you’ll claim will be an excuse, a yearning,
To be murderous or to withhold decency that’s needed.
Your face in the mirror, how do you deny the heeded?
If you are blind, ask those of sight to verify the reflection.
A child learns to walk or cycle by support and direction.
Light, like the mirror as awareness, is to make manifest,
A free being that thrives outside of thought than against.
